Take a Bite of Something Legendary

Stein's burger

When guests are asked about their favorite memories of the resort, we hear many of the same events. The first thing that impresses guests is the level of service and attention to detail. From the front desk to the restaurant team, housekeeping, turn-down service, spa, grounds, and engineering, the team strives for five-star perfection in all aspects of the experience.

The next thing that guests tend to rave about is the dining. Not only do guests enjoy the ambiance of the candlelit Glitretind restaurant, but they also enjoy the bright, welcoming glow of Troll Hallen and the dream-like wonder of an Alpenglobe. This snowglobe-like structure allows guests all of the beauty of outdoor deck dining with the comforts of a private, secluded experience. All year, guests visit from all over to experience the famous Sunday brunch and the scrumptious skier's buffet.

Specifically, "You have to get the burger." "I dream about the sticky toffee pudding!" and "The meatballs are my all-time favorite appetizer." "I have eaten there since I was a kid!" can be heard frequently around here. While the menus change seasonally, there are several menu items that guests insist must remain untouched, and this is your introduction to a few of them.

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Primarily considered a classic British treat, the team of expert chefs has made this delicious dessert something guests continue to rave about. A few elements go into sticky toffee pudding: moist, spongey date cakes, sweet toffee syrup, and some delicious garnishes, including vanilla ice cream.

The sticky toffee pudding is available on the menu at Troll Hallen Lounge, as well as the in-room dining menu. It is perfect after a cold day on the slopes, a soak in the hot tub, or a night out shopping on Historic Main Street. The flavors are sweet and nostalgic, like Christmas in a dish. A dessert that the whole family can share, but be warned, you might find yourself fighting for the last bite.

Swedish Meatballs & Mashers

This recipe comes from Stein Collection's Vice President of Food and Beverage and Corporate Chef, Chef Zane Holmquist's grandmother's recipe. The meatballs are a mixture of ground meat and herbs, and they are served with creamy mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam, as is traditional in many parts of Sweden and Norway, the home country of Stein Eriksen himself, where the lodge finds so much inspiration.

The meatballs, creamy potato, and sweet lingonberry jam combine to make a symphony of flavor. A little sweet, a little salty, and plenty savory. Again, it is available at Troll Hallen Lounge, and the in-room dining menu is also great for sharing. Great for all seasons, occasions, and tastes.

A fun version of this dish can also be found in pizza form at Champions Club. The pizza is topped with white sauce, fontina cheese, Swedish meatballs, lingonberry jam, and parsley. It is perfect for a poolside meal or enjoyed with table service in the 3,500 square-foot entertainment center and game room that makes up Champions Club, making it the ideal meal for families or those seeking a laid-back, pub-style experience.

Stein's Burger

Commonly referred to as one of the best burgers in town, the Stein's Burger is an eight-ounce Angus beef patty with aged white cheddar cheese and crispy onions served on a sheepherder roll. As with all menu items, the burger is customizable with many fixings at your request and includes a side such as crispy fries or salad. The aged white cheddar cheese and crispy onions are unique, and the Angus burger is profoundly delicious.

The burger is a go-to for skiers and mountain bikers as they come off the mountain; nothing beats the savory flavors after a day at Deer Valley and those just looking for a hearty, casual meal. The Stein's Burger is available at Troll Hallen Lounge, Champions Club, and in-room dining menus.
